The best consultants want to work with equally talented peers in stimulating environments. In our experience, you won’t find that sort of work by matching a client’s requirements with buzzwords conveniently placed throughout a CV.
Like you, we‘ve worked in IT. We know the sort of clients we – and you – want to work with and avoid those we wouldn’t. We can only identify these clients by getting out there and getting to know them, their people and processes, so that’s exactly what we do. That way, we can give you a better understanding of what they’re really like and why we think you might want to work there.
If we can get it right for you then it follows that it’s inherently right for clients. We spend time talking to contractors/consultants like you, actively seeking the best and the brightest. When we find you we promote you to our clients, companies that appreciate talent and trust us to find it. It’s a hugely personal, professional approach, one which goes way beyond anonymously uploading your CV onto a database.
As a 7N contractor, you’re in absolute control of how and where you’re represented. We’re not in the business of spamming CVs randomly, and you see and approve everything written about you.
We also appreciate that, even if you had the time, marketing yourself might not be high on your agenda. So we can help with that, too.
Being an independent contractor can be hugely rewarding in many ways beyond the financial. The freedom to choose the types of work you prefer, to steer clear of corporate politics and the flexibility to pursue personal projects simultaneously all add to the attraction.
But it can be a lonely existence and many miss the opportunity of sharing banter, skills, advice and learning with like-minded people. As well as helping you to find work that enables this, while retaining your independence and lifestyle choices, 7N supports the Consultant Collective through a programme of events, from social gatherings and networking to professional advice and training. As an independent contractor, you’re free to participate as little or as much as you like.
You’re an independent contractor and need to be free to work for the clients you choose. Our contracts have no exclusivity clauses – you can work for our clients either direct or through other agencies if we can’t place you. Clients are also free to approach you if they want to offer you a permanent position.
We want people to work through us because they appreciate the benefits and see the value. Naturally we hope that, once contractors have experienced our way of doing things, they’ll be happy to stay with us.
Our pricing is simple and transparent. You set your own rates and we add a 20% margin. All parties see and agree on this. Things might change a little during rate negotiations, but again it will open and transparent to all parties.
If clients won’t pay what’s being asked, then we feed this back to you and give you a chance to reconsider the rates, the company and the type of work. We can negotiate on your behalf, but our role is as an honest broker and intermediary, not someone looking to maximise their margin.
